for me, coming from Hamburg, obviously the Elbphilharmonie – it combines the art of complex construction with an aesthetic that elevates it above the surrounding world heritage area of the Speicherstadt and the harbour architecture while simultaneously integrating itself perfectly (allowing all of the cost overruns to be forgotten).
“The Big Lebowski” by the Coen brothers – for me, it’s one of the best films of all time and it’s so filled with absurdities that (nearly) nothing in the real world can come as a surprise to me any more.
“Eine Frage der Leidenschaft” by the world champion triathlete Jan Frodeno – because it shows that, alongside talent and hard work, passion forms a central part of the path to success. It’s a motivational bible for everyone who, like me, participates in endurance sports, but it isn’t limited to that.
